The Forgotten Realms:

The Forgotten Realms is one of the most enduring campaign settings for the popular tabletop roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.

Although the Forgotten Realms contains many pantheons, and many of these have conflicting beliefs over who or what was responsible for the creation of the multiverse, the most generally accepted being is a deity known as Ao.

The overgod of at least the crystal sphere of Realmspace, Ao was an immensely powerful being and the only overgod of any crystal sphere confirmed to exist. There were no exact accounts on how he created the universe, but he was nonetheless credited for the deed.

Despite the fact that Ao could at times be stated to serve under another, unknown more powerful being, for the purposes of this wiki Ao is considered the only overgod to exist in the multiverse of the Forgotten Realms, and as such has had his domain expanded to be not just that of the one universe of Realmspace, but of all crystal spheres and all alternate material planes that exist.

Worlds Beyond:

For the purposes of organization, this multiverse is considered a hub not just for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition universes, but for all universes created for a tabletop roleplaying game. Ao is still considered the sole overbeing, due to the fact that some other TTRPG systems may not have any pantheon at all, and because it would get entirely too confusing to try to list them all out anyways.

Any universe created for the purposes of a TTRPG campaign other than Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, such as Monster of the Week or any other system, will be listed on this page and considered in the lore of The Compendium of Knowledge to be under the jurisdiction of Ao.
